At 16.002023 on 10 January, the Fu Keung Hong Tai Printing and Dyeing Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as Fu Keung company) of Shaoxing Binhai, Keqiao District, was carrying out sewage pumping operation at a sewage treatment plant, a hydrogen sulfide gas poisoning accident occurred, resulting in 3 deaths and 3 injuries.

The main process of wastewater treatment is: adding sulphuric acid to desizing wastewater after printing and dyeing, after neutralization, air flotation, sedimentation, regulation, anaerobic, aerobic and sedimentation processes, discharge to the Sewage Treatment for unified treatment. What happened was the wastewater neutralization to the regulation process.

According to the investigation and inquiry, the cause of the accident was as follows: there was a large amount of hydrogen sulphide in the sludge which had not been cleaned for a long time at the bottom of the wastewater regulating tank. In the process of pumping the high concentration wastewater into the wastewater regulating tank, hydrogen sulfide in the tank was stirred and spilled out, which caused two workers nearby and four workers in the adjacent dyeing workshop to be poisoned. Details of the cause of the accident are under investigation.
