To enhance the safety management level for hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) gas leakage at natural gas purification plants, Sinopec Southwest Oil & Gasfield Natural Gas Purification Company implemented a series of technical improvement measures at Guangyuan Natural Gas Purification Plant in November 2024, targeting the risks associated with high-sulfur natural gas processing. Traditional monitoring technologies, such as chemical reaction-based and catalytic combustion methods, suffer from low sensitivity and limited monitoring range, making it difficult to cover large areas. Moreover, these methods struggle to detect early-stage leaks in outdoor open environments and can only identify significant leaks. To address these issues, the purification plant introduced six sets of advanced H₂S laser gas leak monitoring systems, establishing an online H₂S concentration monitoring system that integrates functions including information collection, long-term monitoring, abnormal alarm, and interlocking control. These technical enhancements have not only effectively improved the plant's capability in detecting and monitoring H₂S leaks but also reduced safety risks, providing robust safeguards for the safe, continuous, and efficient operation of production activities.
