From 2015 to 2019, we established the world’s first laser remote sensing monitoring network for Beijing Gas, China’s largest gas utility company. A large-scale deployment of fixed scanning laser methane detectors was completed to enable 24/7 remote online monitoring of all high-pressure regulator stations under Beijing Gas. The system not only detects natural gas leaks from equipment in real time, but also synchronizes video surveillance, with monitoring data and video images transmitted to the company’s central dispatch room via a dedicated network.
